Risks and Dementia in Public Space

A problematization of how risk is conceptualized in the existing research on people living with dementia in spaces outside the home.

  • We have just started a Critical Interpretive Synthesis (CIS) that will examine the assumptions informing conceptualizations of risk in the current research related to mobility and dementia.

We will ask three key questions of the literature:

    1) How are everyday mobilities conceptualized in relation to the risk of becoming lost for people living with dementia in the community in research literature and from what perspectives?

    2) What assumptions inform these conceptualizations?

    3) Can these assumptions be productively challenged to aid the development of new research approaches and questions?
